The preparations are set, orientation starts in a couple of days, and our work (and play) begins this Friday! Katie has been working extremely hard in the office this past week while I was spending some last-minute time with my family. I'll be staying at her house through orientation, which usually equates a full immersion into this project. I can't wait! This week will be spent getting into the HIT/M-CAM mindset before we embark on our first of many flights Friday afternoon. I have not met a couple of the interns face-to-face yet, so I am VERY excited to have the opportunity to get to know them this week. A strong group-bond is essential for this trip to reach its full potential. This time spent at M-CAM together is vital for building the relationships we'll need in order to learn as much as possible in PNG. I bought the last of my packing needs today, and have started filling my pack. Reality is hitting hard, but the warmth I feel when I think of seeing my PNG family again makes any trepidations dwindle away. I look forward to letting you all know what's going on while we're there, typing on Teresa's computer while looking through her office windows at the lush green that makes earth and tree indistinguishable.
