A couple of months ago, we at the Heritable Innovation Trust were connected with Tyler Gage, the founder of the Runa Foundation in Ecuador. Due to similarities in direction and focus, the two organizations melded quite well. Runa LLC is an international organization dedicated to facilitating sustainable development and cultural preservation for the indigenous communities of Ecuador. Runa's main focus is to protect and participate in the fair trade of Guayusa, a naturally caffeinated tea grown and celebrated in Ecuador. Since our first communication, our organizations have been developing a plan which integrates our missions and goals. We are excited to see what the next steps bring. We received an update from Tyler today, and the news is good. Since our last communication, Runa has secured a volunteer from the Peace Corps who will work on documenting the traditional knowledge in a Heritable Innovation Trust form. Runa has also identified a second intern who will be assisting this summer and who will be able to move the documenting process forward.
