Katie Martin

“You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” Albert Einstein

Katie Martin graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Leadership Studies. After interning with the Heritable Innovation Trust program in 2009 in its pilot trip, she has been hired by M-CAM to coordinate all aspects of the Heritable Innovation Trust. While attending school full-time, she put together both the 2010 and 2011 trips and looks forward to where the program can go in the future. She believes the most rewarding part about the Heritable Innovation Trust internship opportunity is the impact of successful community engagement not only on the community but on the group of interns also. Katie loves to travel and experience new things and aims to do what she can to promote the HIT story.

Updates:

We are now down to 4 days before orientation starts. All of the materials and forms have been checked and double checked. We have finally figured out what we are hoping will be a functional international cell phone but that will just add another level of suspense to the trip as we will only know if it works once we are out of the country. Theresa sent us a tentative schedule of our stay in PNG and it is looking like we will be kept very busy. The interns journal arrived earlier this week.
