Ecuador 2010

In the summer of 2010, the Heritable Innovation Trust program expanded to Ecuador. Our friends at Runa, a guayusa tea cultivation and production company based in the Napo Province of Ecuador, expressed an interest in documenting their methods and the cultural context of their product through the Heritable Innovation Trust. Throughout the spring of that year, Caitlin Boyd and Katie Martin trained Chris Jarrett, a Runa intern, in the methods of engagement and documentation utilized by H.I.T. With the help of numerous Runa staff members and Kichwa farmers in the area, Chris compiled the 2010 Ecuadorian document which was released in the fall of that year. This internship marked the first remotely conducted H.I.T. internship; something we hope to continue.
