In recent news, Australia’s Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, has rejected aboriginal leaders' proposal to have an aboriginal-only meeting to come up with a unified strategy for inclusion in the Australian Consitution. “I am in favour of building consensus, but strongly believe that this should be a national consensus in favour of a particular form of recognition rather than simply an Indigenous one.” Abbott wants the inclusion to be done with everybody and every member of the country to avoid the “them and us” that has been so prevalent. What will be the next move in Australia for Aboriginal members?
